Vurela Attaway – Hodge passed from this life on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 90. This Modest/Well-dressed LADY was born April 4, 1926 to the George Key family of Binger, Oklahoma. Vurela was a loving wife and mother who unselfishly spent time with her family, Christian school children, friends as well as time with her Lord and His word. She shared LOVE for the Holy Bible and made it clear as she offered Alexander Scorby on 45 rpm records in the 1950’s… She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Georgia and Leona, brother, Cleo and her husbands, Rev. Charles Attaway and Ralph Hodge. Vurela leaves precious memories with her sons, Charles (Bud) Attaway, Jr. of Moore, OK and Stephen Attaway of Argyle, TX. 6-grandchildren: Chuck Attaway, John Attaway, Christie Dennis, Liz, Paul and Jonathan Attaway, as well as 7 great-grand-children. Sis. Attaway, as most knew her, lost her mother Mrs. George Key when she was 4 years old. She and her sister, Georgia Gronemyer were adopted at 6 and 8 years of age to Mollie and B.T. Bynum who later resided in Bethany Oklahoma. As they grew, their mother Mollie accompanied them on the piano as they sang for revivals. Their love for church, singing and the Lord, helped guide them to both marry preachers. Charles Attaway saw Vurela Bynum enter his 11th grade classroom and said to himself…“I’m going to marry that girl”. These two lovers celebrated 48 years of marriage and served their Lord together by pastoring churches in Oklahoma City and Dallas and administering Christian Education to children in the Oklahoma City area and beyond. This Christian work included 9 trips to the country of ‘India’ starting schools and taking ‘Life’ to the poor lost children of that land. Vurela was a supportive spouse and home-maker, mother, Sunday School teacher, church/school secretary and great traveler with Brother Charles (as he was known)... She took wonderful care of their parents visiting almost every day in their invalid state …. Sis. Attaway lived tirelessly even though she suffered many set-backs in life which included many car accidents (of which NONE were concluded to be her fault) Thus, multiple neck and back surgeries. WHAT A STRONG CHRISTIAN LADY who brought Praise to her Lord!!! 7 years after the death of husband Charles, Vurela and Ralph Hodge were married. They were married for 16 years. He was a great blessing to Vurela and her family. Now in her final hospital stay of almost 6-weeks, one evening she leaned forward and said, ‘Let’s Just Praise HIM’…. Then, she said, over and over ‘Let’s GO, Let’s GO, Let’s GO’… Now with such ‘PEACE’, she joins her LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST!!
