Obituary for Edna Darlene Koch (Bowman)

Edna Darlene  Koch (Bowman)
Darlene Koch went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, after bravely facing many years of
declining health. She was born in Custer City, Oklahoma and died in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Darlene met the love of her life, E.M. (Cookie) Koch, and they were married for 50 years prior to his death. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Jan Hill.

Darlene loved God and people, especially children. She served as a children’s minister and as Director of Childhood Education for the Baptist General Convention for many years, and traveled extensively across many states. She retired in 1997 and cared for her mom and husband until their deaths. Although Darlene served in churches throughout Oklahoma over the years, she was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church at the time of her death.

Darlene was an amazing and sweet Christian woman, a wonderful loving example for her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her. We were all better for having her in our lives. She touched many lives with her sweet and fun spirit, and she will be greatly missed.

Darlene is survived by son John and his wife Barbara; brother Bo Bowman; sister-in-law Amelia Boese;
son-in-law Jerry Hill and his wife Sandra. She was also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Jill Nelson and her husband Josh and daughter Brieona, Ryan Koch and his wife Kacia and
daughters Jersey and Lorelai; Jana Burdge and husband Mike, son Jeff and daughters Kendall, Emma, and Cecilee; Mark Hill and his wife Jacquie and children Gennevieve and Mark; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

A huge thank you to Mona and all of the wonderful caring staff at Good Shepherd Hospice, and to
every single one of her loving caregivers at Baptist Village Retirement Center in T.B. Lackey Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 7, at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 North May in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Darlene’s name to Good Shepherd Hospice, 4350 Will Rogers Parkway, Suite 400, Oklahoma City, OK 73108, or to Baptist Village
Retirement Center, 9700 Mashburn Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
