Doris Irene Gibson Johnson, age 89, went into the arms of her Heavenly Father on November 11, 2016. Doris was born on Dec. 13, 1926 in Elkhart, Indiana to Leland B. Gibson and Cecil Brewer Gibson. After the early death of her mother, she was raised by her father and step-mother Jesse May Gibson. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Q.B. Johnson, her parents, her step-mother, and her sister Joyce Swetman. Doris is survived by three children, son Lory Johnson and wife Deborah of Oklahoma City, daughter Karen Clark of Norman, daughter Barbara Turner and husband Gerald Turner of Oklahoma City, her brother Gerald D. Gibson and wife Lois Gibson of Brecksville, OH and Brother-in-Law Herb Swetman of Tucson AZ. Three granddaughters, Katie Turner, Amy Turner both of Moore, Jessica Raab and husband, Mike Raab of Houston, Texas. Four great-grandchildren, Cayden Tomberlin, Cashyon Turner, Remington Collier of Moore and Maya Raab of Houston, TX.
Doris was a faithful, dedicated wife, wonderful, thoughtful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family will remember her for love of family, always finding a personal way to celebrate everyone’s birthday, for the Christmas candy which she faithfully made every year for friends and family, her desire to be near her family, her faith, her colorful attire, opinionated nature and of course her passion for playing bridge. She was a member of Putnam City Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK.
Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, Nov 16th at Putnam City Baptist Church,11401 N. Rockwell Ave, OKC, OK. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
