A memorial service to honor his life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the South Colonial Chapel (6934 S. Western Ave)

Richard, 63, went to be with the Lord on Nov 17, 2016. The son of Marion “Buck” & Mary Whitehurst, Richard was born April 1, 1953 in OKC, OK. After graduating from Southeast High School, Richard began a lifelong career in the automotive industry having worked in many different capacities of the industry. He retired from Dayton Tire Company before working in the auto parts department at Knippelmier Chevrolet. Richard loved working on old cars & was proud to finally acquire his “dream car”, a 1957 Chevy. In his spare time, Richard also enjoyed going to swap meets & car shows, but his most treasured moments where those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Richard married his sweetheart, Patricia “Trisha” Bergen on July 6, 2000. Together they shared more than 16 years of marriage & raising a family. Richard was a very kind, gentle, honest, and loving man who will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, “Buck”.

He leaves cherished memories with his wife of 16 years, Trisha Whitehurst; daughter, Jennifer Whitehurst; step-daughter, Nycole Mandell; step-son, Wes Mandell; mother, Mary Whitehurst; sister, Roberta Thompson; brother, Steve Whitehurst; grandchildren: A.J. Radford, Maegan Radford, Austin Kelly and Meghan; many other loving family & friends.
