Obituary for Willie Mae Walker (Davis)

Willie Mae Walker (Davis)
Willie Davis “Billie” Walker
August 30, 1923 ~ November 26, 2016

After a long illness, Billie Walker peacefully and gently passed away at the age of 93 with her family at her side.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Iva Davis; infant son, Wayne Walker, Jr; her beloved sister, Mattie Burke; and her dear friend, former husband, and father of her children, Wayne Walker.

Billie was the epitome of that magical miracle of a mother's love and devotion for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Madelyn Dalton, Tulsa; granddaughters Kacey Davenport, Tulsa, and Amy McDougall and her husband Chad, OKC; great grandchildren Zack, Megan, Emily, and Grace. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by a host of friends, co-workers, clients, and care-givers.

Billie was born August 30, 1923 in Dallas, Texas and from the age of 10 was raised at Buckner's Orphanage in Dallas. Through that experience she learned the importance of hard work and the value of taking care of resources. She worked from the age of 16-88. She was an IRS Enrolled Agent and worked as an accountant for Baldwin & Co. for over 30 years.

Billie was a faithful, active, and joyful member of Putnam City Baptist Church in OKC and loved the Lord. Her generosity knew no bounds. She shared many life lessons with all who knew her. She loved to tell great stories and knew no strangers.

A memorial service will be held at Putnam City Baptist Church, OKC on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10am, officiated by Reverend Bill Hulse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Putnam City Baptist Church, 11401 N. Rockwell, OKC, 73162 or St. Jude Hospital Research, Children's Hospital Foundation at Saint Francis, 6161 S. Yale, Tulsa, OK 74136.
