Obituary for Lillian Venable

Lillian Marie Venable, 95, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 1, 2017. She was born August 2, 1921 to Tom and Lula Epperson. Lillian attended school in Bromide, Oklahoma graduating in 1939. She married Raymond Venable on November 12, 1941 in Tempe, Arizona and went on to make a home in California for a short time. They returned to Oklahoma when Raymond was called to service during World War II and made their home in Oklahoma City since 1945. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before Raymond’s death.

Lillian was a member of Wilmont Place Baptist Church. She worked outside the home for brief periods, but considered her home and family her priority. She was the heart of her home, always supporting both her immediate family and her large extended family. She was known for her good cooking and ability to put together a huge meal at a moment’s notice for company. No one left her table hungry or unloved.

Lillian was an active supporter of the Dale Rogers Training Center and participated in other organizations supporting the mentally handicapped. Special Olympics was very dear to her heart.

Services for Lillian will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

The family would like to thank Centennial Hospice for their support during Lillian’s final days. Also, to the staff and residents of Brookdale Village, we are forever grateful for your compassionate care and kindness.
