Sybil Virginia Jennings went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the age of 85. Sybil was born on December 4, 1931 in Idabel, Oklahoma to her parents, Hazel Lucille (Logan) and Melvin Franklin “Bill” Walker. On October 12, 1956, Sybil married Reverend Walter Lee Jennings and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Walter preceded her in death on May 8, 2010. As he was a Free Will Baptist Minister, Sybil was very active with him in the churches he pastored and the churches he attended after his retirement. Sybil was a devoted Christian and was a dedicated helper and soul mate to her late husband. Since they had no children, the church was their life. Sybil and Walter were God’s faithful servants. Sybil was a wonderful person and friend who will be greatly missed by many. Although we will miss her presence here on earth, we are at peace knowing she is now in a much better place with the husband she missed so much and free from the years of excruciating pain suffered from both types of arthritis.
Sybil was preceded in death by her:
• late husband;
• mother Hazel;
• sister, Lorraine Parham.
She is survived by her:
• Sister, Nita and Harry Alexander of Oklahoma City;
• Sister, Oleta and Don Willoughby of Houston, Texas
• Sister, Ora Lee and Joe Brown of Arlington, Texas;
• along with many beloved nieces and nephews who considered Sybil their “special” aunt.
She wanted to offer a special thanks to Sharon and Troy Plunkett, whom Sybil considered the daughter and son she never had, for all their love and companionship. She also wanted a huge “thank you” to go to Nita and Harry Alexander for being their best friends and for their many years of handling both her and Walter’s affairs, and being both their primary caretakers.
