Betty, 80, departed this earthly life on Feb 20, 2017. She was born Feb 1, 1937 in Ada, OK to Dexter Bailey and Lois (Phillips) Bailey. She graduated from Ada High School in 1954 and went on to attend East Central University. Betty married J. D. Bottoms on June 29, 1956 and together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until Jay’s death on June 30, 2010. Betty began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Ada as a switchboard operator until the birth of her children. She put her career on hold in order to be a full time mother. She returned to the workforce at Southwestern Bell in Oklahoma City in 1977. She retired in 1992 as an engineering draftsperson in the Moore, OK office. A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Moore, she was also active in the ministries of The Gideons International as well as the A.T. & T. Pioneers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Lee Bailey; son-in-law, Larry Kooken, and husband J.D.

Betty was a beautiful person inside and out. Loving, generous and kind; she willingly shared God’s love with others and the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior. She will always be remembered for her beautiful soprano voice and her love of playing religious hymns at her piano. Betty loved tending to her many flowers and greenery around her home and could often be found outside enjoying the nice weather while working in her flowerbeds. Most importantly, she will be remembered for being an unwavering woman of faith, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed in the days to come, yet her family holds fast to the promise of a great reunion in heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Jay Lynn Kooken and her intended Mark Harris;

Son, Michael Bottoms and wife Monica;

Four grandchildren; Lyndsay Rae Dukes and husband Ryan;

Kody Kooken; Bryan Bottoms and Kristopher Bottoms;

Brother Jerry Bailey and wife Patty,

and a host of many other loving family and friends.
