Obituary for Gene Ross

Gene Ross was born Nov. 3, 1929 in Carpenter, Oklahoma the son of Chet and Vera (Scruggs) Ross. He completed this life on March 17, 2017 at the age of 87.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and his Master’s Degree in Education from Western State University in Gunnison, CO. He was a Superintendent for several Oklahoma schools for 12 years, before founding Ross Transportation. Gene also enjoyed many years working in the cattle industry.
He married Elnora Catherine (Black) Ross on June 2, 1952 in Port, OK, and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2015.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Ross and his sister, Oleta Denton.
He is survived by his sons, Bill Ross and his wife Debbie of Mustang, Bruce Ross and his wife Bridgette of Alexandria, LA and Barney Ross and his wife Terri of Kingston, OK; his grandchildren, Ryan Ross and his wife Achley, Eric Ross, Chelsea Ross and Garrett Ross.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, March 20, 2017 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel with interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
