Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charlotte Goodner can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Charlotte Jane Goodner (Strance)

Jane was born in Chelsea, Oklahoma to Herbert and Leah Strance. Jane spent her childhood in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma attending Oklahoma City public schools and graduating from Capitol Hill High School. She married the love of her life, Ollie John Goodner, on November 22, 1945. They raised their two sons, Steve and David, in South Oklahoma City.

The family attended Capitol Hill United Methodist Church where Jane and Ollie were involved in almost every aspect of the church from sponsoring youth programs and trips to hosting women’s functions. Jane and Ollie were long time members of the Crusaders adult Sunday school class.

Jane loved to read and travel. The Goodners went camping almost every summer in Eastern Oklahoma with other families from their church and loved boating excursions. Some of their favorite activities were attending the balloon races in Albuquerque, visiting with their grandchildren and trips to the ocean in California.

Jane retired from Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) after many years of service.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Leah Strance; her beloved husband, Ollie John and their precious infant son, Johnny. She is survived by her sons, Steve (spouse, Sue) of Plano Texas, David (spouse, Lisa) of Channel Islands California; brothers Sherman Strance (spouse, Dot) of Austin Texas, Clarence Strance of Collinsville Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kyle (spouse, Carrie) of Tulsa Oklahoma, Erin of Scottsdale Arizona and step-grandchild, Kelsey Doty of Paris Texas; great-grandchildren: Olivia Jane Goodner and Samuel Kilgore Goodner of Tulsa Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Kimberly Christian, Scott Strance, Jan Strance, Peter Strance and Susan Chandlee.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6pm April 24, 2017 at Graceway Baptist Church, 1100 SW 104th Street-Oklahoma City. No visitation is scheduled.

Memorial donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity, Quality Care Hospice’s (Oklahoma City) Bell Childers Foundation or the charity of your choice.
