Services to honor his life will be held 1:00pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at the South Colonial Chapel (6934 S. Western Ave) with burial following to Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma.

Vernon C. Wilson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the age of 90. Vernon was born in Oklahoma City, OK to George and Roxie (Stevens) Wilson. As a teenager, Vernon left Capitol Hill High School to join the Navy in 1944, serving in the Pacific. Returning from the war, Vernon met his first love, Ruth Richardson the pretty girl working at a TG&Y store in OKC. They were married for 42 years until her passing in 1989. Later in life he and Marilyn Sue Wilson were blessed to be married. Vernon was an avid hunter with his great friends in life, especially Carlisle Pratt. He loved spending time outdoors with his family water skiing, camping in the mountains and at the family cabin. Vernon had a ready smile and an ornery sense of humor. He had a drive for adventure that led him to build and rebuild airplanes including several that he owned and flew himself. He also raced cars. Vernon was a hard worker all his life. At the FAA, Vernon was a foreman in aircraft maintenance. He continued his work at home, as a mechanic on airplanes and cars. He built an auto garage business. Vernon was known to friends and neighbors as the man who could fix anything. He was always giving – auto repairs to those needing help, abundant tomatoes to everyone up and down the street, and a listening ear to his darling daughter, TL. Vernon was a “good guy”. He lived a great example – loving his family, always helping others, and finding the good in every day. He will be deeply missed.
