Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 AM at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary at South Lakes (4000 SW 119th Street).


Wanda, 81, entered Heaven’s gates on Aug 2, 2017. The daughter of Herman & Bertha Atkinson, Wanda was born Nov 13, 1935 in Keota, OK. After graduating from Keota High School in 1954, Wanda went to work in the field of bill collecting and worked for Hertz and Mathis Brothers a combined 37 years before retirement. Later in life, she married Frank Garcia on April 22, 1984 and enjoyed their golden years together. In her spare time, Wanda also enjoyed dancing, but what she really loved was time spent with her family. Wanda was known for her lively spirit and love of people, and never met a stranger. Wanda was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother & great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers. She leaves cherished memories with her husband, Frank Garcia; son, Roger Shrum; daughter, Kimberly Smith & husband, Randy; brothers, Jim Atkinson & Paula; Amos Atkinson & wife, Lori; sister, Joyce Tolfa & husband, Richard; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Sat, Aug 19, 2017 at the South Lakes Chapel
