Obituary for Stella Ruth Craft (Craft)

Viewing will be in the Vondel L.Smith & Son Mortuary South Colonial Chapel on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM, just before the service.


Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary South Colonial Chapel.


Miss Stella Ruth Craft went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 13, 2017, at the home of her niece, Ginger Gooden Burris, in Frisco, Texas where she had been staying during her short illness. Stella was 92 years old. She was born July 15, 1925 in Healdton, OK to Carter County pioneers, William David and Virgie Lela Kimbrell Craft. She grew up around the Healdton-Wilson Y, having attended Zaneis School before graduating from Healdton High School in 1945. After graduation, Stella attended Draughn’s Business School in Oklahoma City. Following her graduation, Stella began working for Lee-Way Freight Lines where she worked for 37 years before retiring in 1982. She joined Jefferson Heights Baptist Church in 1956 and served as the church clerk since 1980. The church was later relocated and named New Heights Baptist Church. Stella’s family was very important to her and she took care of her mother for many years. Her greatest passion was for touring the world and after retiring, she and a friend went to numerous countries on extended trips. Stella was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be deeply missed.

Parents;
Sister, Juanita Abernathy and her husband, Carmon;
Sister, Aleta Nadine Gooden and her husband, Jack;
Brother, Billy Dave Craft and his wife, Lola Birdwell Craft;
Brother, Bobby Craft.

She leaves behind her family:
Sister-in-law, Betty Trail Craft of Broken Arrow, OK;
Numerous nieces and nephews.
