Obituary for Gary Wayne Sykes

Visitation will be Monday & Tuesday, Sept. 25-26 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Services to celebrate his life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.

Gary Wayne Sykes, fondly known as “The Frog” by his family and friends, entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the age of 66. He was born on September 12, 1951 in McAlester, Oklahoma to his parents, Leon Thelbert and Joan Arlin (Flynn) Sykes. After graduating from U.S. Grant High School, Gary found employment through Scribner and Fleming, before working in the Aircraft Maintenance Department at Tinker Air Force base, from which he retired. Gary found love with Penny Sneed and together they shared 30 years raising their families and creating lifelong memories. Gary loved going to the lake, camping, and the Oklahoma Sooners to name a few. He had many talents like making people laugh, working on things and he loved coaching baseball. Above all, Gary loved spending time with his family, especially holidays and spending time with his grandchildren. Gary will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his:
Parents, Leon and Joan Sykes.

He is survived by:
Penny Sneed;
Sons: Wayne Sykes and Chris Sykes;
Daughter, Jennifer Sykes;
Grandchildren: Dustin Sykes and Marissa Davis;
Brothers: David Sykes and his wife, Kathy, Ronald Sykes and his wife, Deana, Bryan Sykes and his wife, Debbie, and Barry Sykes and his wife, Carla;
Many other family and friends.
