Obituary for Sylvah C. Thomas

Sylvah C. Thomas passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the age of 79. She was born on February 18, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to her parents, Charles “Earl” and Sylvah “Marie” (Ferrier) Hoag. She was raised in south Oklahoma City with her brothers, Jimmy and Jerome. She attended Capitol Hill High School and was a “Rainbow Girl” during her time there. She worked her parent’s Root Beer stand and that’s where she first met her husband. She graduated in 1956 married the love of her life, Kenneth Ray Thomas on February 21, 1956. They were blessed with 4 children: Sylvah, Donna, Beverly and Kevin. Sylvah helped provide for her family by working at film row as a film inspector. She also owned and operated her own shop, Ceramic’s by Sylvah family’s along with her mother, Marie and daughter, Sylvah Jean, until the early 80’s. She also worked with SWB/ATT for over 30 years and made many friends during her time there. Sylvah was an Avon representative for many years and was very successful. Sylvah loved spending time with her family and made some of her most precious memories with her grandkids, whom lovingly call her “Grams.” Sylvah’s love for her family was immense and her most cherished memories were made while spending time with them. She and her family went on a number of cruises together and she loved to travel. A couple of her favorite destinations she visited with her family were Canada, Niagra Falls and New York. Although Sylvah is not on this earth any longer her memory will remain through her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.


She was preceded in death by her:
Husband of 57 years, Kenneth Thomas;
Parents, Earl and Marie Hoag;
Brothers, Jimmy and Jerome Hoag.

She is survived by her:
Son, Kevin Thomas and his wife, Patricia;
Daughter, Sylvah Swain and her husband, Bill;
Daughter, Donna Thomas;
Daughter, Beverly Walker;
10 Grandchildren: Shawna Rivera, Melissa Rodriguez, Shane Thomas, Dustin Thomas, Kacey Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Chantz Thomas, Justin Conatser, Brandi White, Destinee Walker,
24 Great-Grandchildren;
As well as many extended family and friends.
