James Henry Mathis went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of 71. The son of Henry Elmer and Loretta (Cosby) Mathis, James was born on April 5, 1946 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. After graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1964, James began a lifelong career as a laborer in the construction industry working in many different areas and projects. After his retirement from construction, James enjoyed farming with his nephew. When he wasn’t working, James enjoyed riding motorcycles, working in his lawn and garden, playing with his dog and spending time with his family and friends. James loved the Lord and was a member of the Church of Christ. He will be deeply missed.

James was preceded in death by his:
Parents;
Brother, Kenneth Lloyd Mathis;
Sisters: Delta Mae Fowler and Vinnie Marie Sanders.

He leaves behind his loving family:
Brother, Melvin Mathis and his wife, Lois;
Sister, Leoma Baxter;
Furry companion, his beloved dog “Spot”;
Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
