Obituary for Henry D. Stelter Jr.

Henry DeKalb Stelter, Jr. passed away surrounded by his family following an extended illness on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the age of 84. Henry was born on April 11, 1933 in Tyler, Texas to his parents, Lucille (Hudson) and Henry DeKalb, Sr. He graduated from Moss High School in Holdenville, Oklahoma. In 1953, he joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged 1955. He returned to Holdenville, Oklahoma where he married the love of his life, Sue Nell Arthur, on June 18, 1955. Henry had several vocational endeavors beginning with Douglas Aircraft in 1955, Billington Lumber Company in 1957, following this he joined the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority as Assistant Rehabilitation Officer and later worked as the Assistant Rehabilitation Manager. In 1977, he joined the U. S. Postal Service retiring in 1982 as a mail handler. Henry was often found reading the Bible and studying the scriptures, in addition he loved fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of others. He will always be remembered for his love of the Lord and his family. He was currently worshipping at Shartel Church of God. Henry lived out his commitment to serve God by serving in numerous areas of the church from ushering to working on various boards and committees for many years. He was instrumental in establishing the First Church of God in Moore, now Fresh Start Church in Moore. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving family:
Wife of 62 years, Sue Stelter;
Son, James Stelter and his wife, Debbie;
Daughter, Cindy Stelter;
4 Grandchildren: Nick Smith and his wife, Michelle; Reed Stelter; Erin Stelter and Tony Stelter;
Great grandson, Ethan Stelter;
3 Sisters: Lois Edwards, Jo Adair and Louise Berry;
Many other loving extended family, church family and friends.
