On January 3, 2018 – his 102nd birthday – Brooks John Stanton Hall passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City after a brief illness. He was born January 3, 1916, in Scottsboro, AL, but moved with his family to a farm near Sasakwa, OK, while just a toddler. Brooks learned to drive when he was 10 and enjoyed a 28-year career as a trucker for Jones Truck Lines, retiring in 1978. Brooks had a three-a-day Dr. Pepper habit and an affinity for off brand cookies, Nutty Buddies and sausage McMuffins. He claimed the combo was the secret to his longevity. Brooks loved hot weather, porch sitting, fishing, repetitive storytelling, Conway Twitty, worn out cowboy boots, pepper sauce and traveling. He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Ruby; sister, Annie Farstean Powell; and daughter-in-law, Vivian Hall. Those left to miss him – and sort through his collection of fishing lures – include his daughter, Betty Barton, and husband, Kenneth, of Oklahoma City; son, Don Hall, of Arlington, TX; grandchildren: Tonya Garcia and husband, David, of Mansfield, TX; Stacy Phillips and husband, Jerry, of Norman, OK; Brett Hall, of Arlington, TX; Lisa Lincoln and husband, Lloyd, of Fort Worth, TX; and Michael Barton and wife, Karen, of Keller, TX; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 4-8 PM Friday with the family present 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, Jan 6, 2018 at Sunny Lane Cem.
