Karen Lee (Strub) Cox
January 1, 1942 – February 8, 2018

Karen Lee (Strub) Cox went to Heaven on February 8th at the age of 76. She died peacefully at Integris Hospice House, surrounded by her family, after battling Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.

Karen was born on January 1st in Canton, OH to Bob and Anna Mary Strub. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960 and worked at General Credit Corporation. She married in 1962 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (Canton, OH) after meeting her future husband Ed on a blind date.

Ed and Karen lived in California when they were first married, then moved to Columbus, OH while they were based at Lockbourne Air Force Base. When Ed joined Continental Airlines, they moved to Southern California and later to Conroe, TX. In 1986 they moved to Oklahoma City, OK.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Karen generously gave her time as a volunteer. Most recently, Karen donated her time and talent to Integris Hosptial, working in the gift shop where she donated 9,100 volunteer hours. She also served as President of the Volunteer Auxiliary Board in 2000 and was awarded as a Lifetime Member in June, 2010.

Karen is survived by her husband Edward Cox, of Oklahoma City; Daughters Julie Cox of Norwalk, CT, Sally Gill (Steven) of Exton, PA; Sons Raymond E Cox (Diana) of Rockledge, FL, Robert Lee Cox (Rachel) of Little Elm, TX; Grandchildren Pierson, Mitchell, and Kannon Gill, Ally and Sydney Cox, Hannah and Nicholas Seamans. Sister Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Sells of Athens, OH and Brother Robert Strub of Savanna, GA. Karen was preceded in death by parents Robert and Anna Mary Strub of Canton, OH.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Vondel L Smith & Son Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13th at 10 am, Epiphany of the Lord Catholic church, 7336 West Britton Road with a reception to follow.
