Obituary for Naoma "Lou" Durant

Naoma “Lou” Durant passed away from this life Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the age of 87. The daughter of Henry and Edna Hancock, Lou was born May 31, 1930 in Eagleton, Arkansas. After attending Bennington High School, she married the love of her life Olen Durant on June 20, 1946. After a tour in Japan, they settled in Oklahoma City where they shared more than 51 years of marriage raising their children before Olen’s passing in May of 1998. In addition to being a loving wife and devoted mother, Lou also worked for Lucent Technology as a factory worker until her retirement. Lou was active in her community, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and making scarves for soldiers. Lou was a faithful member of her church and had a heart dedicated to serving the elderly members. She served as a Sunday school teacher and as a prayer warrior to anyone in need. In her spare time, Lou could be found quilting, sewing, crocheting, and creating meals big enough to serve an army, but nothing was more precious to her than time with her family. Lou will be remembered as a woman dedicated to the Lord and as a loving wife, mother, & grandmother who always put everyone else’s needs ahead of her own and will be missed by all who knew & loved her.
