Obituary for Mary W. Hamilton

Mary W. Hamilton
Mary Hamilton’s unique ability to spin a yarn and thread a needle will be greatly missed by her loved ones on earth, yet she knew from her favorite verse Ecclesiastes 3:1 that there is a season for everything, and she looked forward to the time that she would meet her Lord and Savior and reconnect with her beloved husband Bob. Mary, 93, started her season of everlasting joy and life eternal May 12, 2018. Mary Wanda Venable was born in Plummerville, AR, Dec. 5, 1924 to Goldie May and William Venable. They moved to OKC when she was three, where she had an idyllic childhood that included many adventures via the trolley system with her best friend Lena Alice. Mary graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1942 and attended OU briefly before being swept off her feet by Bob Hamilton. After WWII he practiced dentistry in Henryetta before moving the family to OKC in 1955. Mary and Bob were married for 62 years before his death in 2005. Mary was a beautiful seamstress and delighted in sewing for her daughters and grandchildren. A devoted Christian and true Bible scholar, Mary loved St. Luke’s Methodist Church and all things Methodist. She was an avid reader and was involved in book clubs and was an active bridge player at Epworth Villa, her home since 2010. Missing Mary in this season of life are her daughters and their families Dianne & Joe Dodson & Kathryn & Patrick Campbell, of Seattle, WA; Robin & Rick Evans of Tulsa, Andy & Jennifer, Thomas & Caroline Evans of Plano, TX, & Robert & Andee, Preston & Tinsley Evans, of Jenks. She is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Barbara Venable, of Yukon, niece and husband Tami & Gary U’Ren and their daughter Amy Huddleston; all of OKC, nephew Bob & Brenda Venable, Ashley Kiselicka & Tatum Fick. A Memorial Service to celebrate and give praise for Mary’s life will be at 3:00 PM, Wednesday. May 16 at Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel. Friends may come for viewing and visitation Tuesday, May 15 from 2:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home, with the family greeting guests from 5:00-6:00 PM.
