Funeral services will be held June 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Southern Hills Baptist Church (8601 S. Penn.) with burial following at Heritage Burial Park (4000 SW 119th St.)

June 13, 2018, John Raymond Harper, III (Sonny) of OKC has gone to be with his Lord and Savior. He is now at his fishing hole in the sky. Sonny was born at Tinker Air force Base to John & Delores Harper on August 16, 1953. Sonny spent his infant years in Honolulu, HI where his father was stationed. In 1954, the family settled back in Oklahoma City, where in 1971 he graduated from Capitol Hill H.S. Sonny went on to play collegiate baseball at Central State University (UCO) until he hit a home run, and married the love of his life Debbie Davis on July 27, 1973. While serving with the Oklahoma City Fire Department he earned the rank of Major, and in 1997 he retired after 22 years of duty. Sonny and Debbie owned and operated Brian Kyle Homes in OKC where he proudly built homes for over 33 years. He enjoyed watching OU Football, and would frequent Lake Texhoma where he fulfilled his passion, which was fishing! If he could, he would spend every day on the water, and he competed in many fishing tournaments. More than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and the joy they brought to his life. He was preceded in death by his mother Delores Harper. He leaves behind his wife, Debbie Harper; his father John Harper, Jr.; two sons: Brian Harper & wife Sarah; Blake Harper & wife Chelsea; his brother Michael Harper & wife Renae; Sister Tina Simon & husband Joe; four grandchildren: Ethan, Alyssa, Asher, and Monroe Harper, as well as many other nieces, nephews, family & friends.
