Obituary for John James Hardin

Print
John was born Nov. 4, 1945, in Oklahoma City to John C. and Lela L. Hardin. After graduating Southeast High School, where he was voted Mr. Spartan by his classmates, John continued his education at Central State University in Edmond, OK, receiving a Bachelor of Science in biology. John worked for 35-plus years as a stock broker/financial planner for the same company which changed hands through the years, beginning with Bache Halsey Stewart Shields, Inc. and ending with Wells Fargo. His love for, and fascination with, the stock market continued until the day he died. Away from work, and after he retired, John was an accomplished thoroughbred handicapper and horse racing enthusiast. Annual trips with his family to Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, AR count among his most cherished times. John amassed a collection of Native American art and pottery. He loved good food and family, especially when those things came together at Cattlemen's Steakhouse or in a trip to New Orleans.

John was preceded in death by:
his parents
his first wife, Cindy S. Hardin.

He leaves behind a family that misses him dearly
his wife of 33 years, Billie J. Hardin;
his son, Brad Hardin and wife Michele;
his daughter Candy Bowers and husband Brock;
his daughter, Jean Anne Newberry;
and his four grandchildren, Abbey Bowers, Hardy Bowers, Emma Hardin, and Brody Hardin.
