Jimmie Dewayne Whitaker, fondly known as “Jim”, departed this earthly life on September 30, 2018 in the comfort of his home. The son of Nora Julia (Drake) & Jimmie Wayne Whitaker, he was born on June 23, 1952 in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Moore High School graduating class of ’69-‘70. After graduation, Jim started a family, and worked diligently to provide for them. In 1975 he made the decision to enlist in the US Army and by 1978,was given an Honorable discharge, from which he returned home with great ambition. While still working, Jim began continuing his education at the University of Oklahoma and received a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering. He married his sweetheart, Barbara Montgomery on May 27th, 1996, and the two were blessed by the uniting their families and 22 years of marriage. He provided for his family by working as an aeronautical engineer for Tinker AFB for more than 22 years before retiring on January 31st, 2017. When Jim wasn’t working, you could find him enjoying time in front of the TV, watching his favorite shows, and football. His favorite teams to root for were the OU Sooners & the Denver Broncos.
