Obituary for Marlin Ray Dahlke

Print
Marlin Ray Dahlke, 62, went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2018 after a valiant and courageous battle against stage IV pancreatic cancer. Marlin was born October 11, 1956 in Cushing Oklahoma to Donald and Edna Dahlke. The family moved to Del City where he graduated from Del City High School in 1974. Marlin was very athletic, playing many sports, but excelling in baseball as a left-handed pitcher, making All-State his Senior year. He then attended Rose State College and Oklahoma City University on a baseball scholarship, graduating in 1978. While attending OCU, he met the love of his life, Janice (Price) Dahlke. They were married March 17, 1979. To this union two sons, Eric Alan and Christopher Ryan were born. Marlin worked in sales at Rush Truck Center for 23 years while also delivering newspapers for the Daily Oklahoman until he became ill in 2015. After retirement, he volunteered as a pitching coach for the Southeast High School baseball team, where he led many fund-raising efforts. Marlin was saved and baptized at Southwest Baptist Church in 1979 and was a long-time member of Wilmont Place Baptist Church where he participated in Judgment House every year and encouraged church members to become mentors to the boys on the Southeast baseball team. Marlin enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his family outdoors. He especially enjoyed coaching his two sons in baseball and basketball and his granddaughter Brooklynn in basketball. He never missed an opportunity to watch his granddaughter Brooklynn play softball & Addison participate in gymnastics. His family meant the world to him and his love will be forever in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by:
His parents, Donald and Edna.

He is survived by:

His sons, Eric Dahlke & wife Kari;

Brothers, Mike Dahlke, Mark Dahlke & wife Ginger;
