Wendell Lewis Mason was born February 18, 1934 in Jean, TX the son of Lady Beatrice (Sparkman) and William Thomas Mason, Sr.. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the age of 84.

Wendell was raised in Texas where he graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls in January, 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He married Una Berniece “Bernie” Cage on July 13, 1956 in Iowa Park, TX.

Wendell worked for the YMCA in Tulsa for 13 years. He served as the director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Northeast Oklahoma from 1972-1985. He then became the Oklahoma State Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship from 1985 to 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Slim Mason.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernie; his daughters, Jeannie and her husband Pastor Steve Hodgson of Hutchinson, KS and Leslie and her husband Dr. Tim Puckett of Edmond; his brothers, Bob Mason and his wife Reba of Midlothian, TX and Tommy Mason and his wife Linda of Providence Village, TX; his sister, Edith Fletcher of Denton, TX; his sister-in-law, Peggy Mason of Odessa, TX; his 8 grandchildren; his 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Vondel L.Smith & Son Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7201 W. Britton Rd. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
