Obituary for Glenn E Beynon Jr.

Glenn E. Beynon, Jr. Major, USAF retired, left this life for another on April 5, 2017. Glenn was born on Oct 12, 1930 to Glenn E. Beynon Sr. and Clara (Reiger) Beynon of Pittsburg PA. He married Phoebe J. Ables on March 1, 1957 at the Carswell AFB Chapel, Ft. Worth Texas. Glenn graduated from Slippery Rock State Teachers College, PA in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, and lettered in Golf. He joined the US Air Force Aviation Cadets program in 1953 and received his reserve commission as a B36 Flight Engineer. In 1958 he successfully completed pilot training and received his regular commission as a career officer. He served in the Vietnam War, 1967 and was awarded many decorations including 9 Airman’s Medals. After retiring from the Air Force, Glenn became a flight instructor for Flight Safety Intl. He worked at Learjet Training Center, Wichita, KS and Gulfstream Aero-Commander Training Center at Wiley Post, Bethany OK.
He is preceded in death by his wife, father and mother, and is survived by his brother Dennis R Beynon of Ocala FL, 4 sons Lyle (Leslie) of Wichita KS, Lloyd (Jane) of Wichita KS, Lee of OK City OK, and Lewis (Kathy) of Charlotte NC, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Glenn was a skilled pilot, aircraft commander, sports enthusiast, coach, choir vocalist, and OU fan. He was our inspiration, moral compass, loving husband and father. The family will greet friends at Vondel L Smith & Son Mortuary 13125 N. MacArthur, OK City OK on Friday April 7, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and graveside service will be Saturday April 8 at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Cemetery.
