Obituary for G.L. Deaton

G.L. Deaton
Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes

Funeral Service: 1PM Wednesday April 19, 2017
Location: South Lakes Chapel (at the funeral home)

G.L. was born to Slats and Ima Deaton in Castle, OK. His family relocated to a few different cities but made their permanent home in Oklahoma City. He attended Capitol Hill high School. A few years after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for over 5 years at which time he was medically retired. G.L. married Sue Tate in 1973 and they shared over 39 years of marriage together. He was always on the move as he was a freight truck driver. In the 60’s he worked for Kings Van and Storage moving company as an Owner/Operator. G.L. was a Teamster for over 50 years and drove for Time D.C., American Freight Lines and most recently Yellow Freight until his retirement in 2012. GL loved working outside in the yard. Before his wife passed in 2012, they always had projects to work on and improvements on the house, yard, flowers and landscaping. Although G.L. is no longer on this earth and will be missed by all who knew him he will never be forgotten.
