Obituary for Herbert Lee "Herb" Seay

Herbert Lee "Herb"  Seay
Herbert Lee Seay was born in Hatfield, AR, on June 23, 1925 to Herbert P. and Pearl (Booze) Seay and left his earth for heaven on November 22, 2017.

Herb left Wapanucka, OK in 1943, and travelled to California to work, but quickly returned to Fayetteville, AR, and enlisted in the US Army. He served his country proudly and fought in World War II, receiving numerous service awards including 3 Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged in 1946 he attend the University of Arkansas where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. .

From there he began a long distinguished career of civil service and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1986, as Personnel Director.

Herb was a smart, kind, quiet, and caring man who spoke thoughtfully and purposely. You always wanted to hear what he had to say, because you knew it was from the heart and important. He lived for his family and will be greatly missed by all that were lucky enough to know him. He met the love of his life Sue Carolyn (Sutherland) Seay and their marriage lasted over 53 years, which brought him his greatest joy.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Gregory Randall Seay. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Sue C. Seay, son Steve Seay, daughter in law Kathy Seay, grandson Jason Seay and his wife Nichole Seay, great grandchildren Jacob Seay and Faith Seay. Also, his sister, Reginal Pruitt.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 27th in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel,13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Interment with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
