Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, Jan 10, 2018 at the South Colonial Chapel


Minton, 92, passed on to glory January 7, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on a farm in Mountain View, OK to Thaddus and Lula Mae John’s, and was the last surviving child of his 12 siblings. Minton served his country in the US Army during WWII. He had a wonderful marriage of 56 years to Mildred Pierce & together they had three children. Linda Johns Gilbert, and Jerry Johns both who preceded him in death. One surviving daughter Judy Rayburn & husband Lonnie. Minton was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jimmy Gilbert, & is survived by eight grandchildren: Cindy Jaronek & husband Victor; Shelly Albright; Linda Minard; Kevin Minard; Jerry Johns; Michelle Akin; Richard Rayburn and wife Sherry; Jason Raburn and wife Christy; Kevin Raburn and wife Talisha; and 18 great-grandchildren. After the loss of his first wife, he married Nancy Stockton Johns in June of 2006, and they had 11 wonderful years together before his passing. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base and spent many of his retired years at the lake fishing. Minton was a proud Army veteran & Mason. Minton will be missed by all of his family and friends
