Obituary for Harold Burnett Blalock

Harold Burnett Blalock was born May 17, 1931 in Union, Mississippi the son of Jesse Monroe and Flora Etta (Winstead) Blalock. He completed this life on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 86.

Harold graduated from Mississippi State University where he played basketball and remained a loyal Mississippi State Bulldogs fan. He was also an avid golfer and tennis player. Harold served his country in the U.S. Army having retired from the Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He worked for the Farmers Home Administration where he retired as a community loan specialist. He was a native of Mississippi where he lived until relocating to Oklahoma City. While in Mississippi he was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Jackson and the First Baptist Church of Madison. In Oklahoma City he was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and his daughter, Suzanne Blalock Norwood.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Spain Blalock; his daughters, Debbie Hutto and her husband Billy of Madison, MS and Nancy Powell and her husband David of Birmingham, AL; his son-in-law, Mark Norwood; his step-son, Frederick G. “Chip” Taylor and his wife Lisa of OKC; his sister, Sylvia Middlebrook of Baton Rouge, LA; his grandchildren, Brad Hutto and wife Maren, Blake Hutto, Matt Norwood and wife Rebekah, Drew Norwood and wife Kim, Daniel Powell and wife Norma, Melissa Powell, Maddy Powell, Jenna Woodward and husband Tyler, Sela Taylor and Kooper Taylor; and his 4 great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd.. Interment will be in Grenada, MS.
