Obituary for Ralph Bertram Amis

Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes 4000 SW 119th Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Ralph Bertram Amis was born on 4 Sept, 1940 in Chester, Pennsylvania to parents Bertram Amis and Ida Helm Amis. He passed from this life on 11 April, 2018 surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dean O’Donnell Amis and Vinh Quang Amis; and his first wife, Angela Mary Tisdale-Jones.

He is survived by his wife Bach Thi (Loan) Amis, daughters Donna Gott and her husband Kevin Gott, Hanh Minson and her husband Mike Minson, Thao Barnes, Mai Walton and her husband Wes Walton, sisters Carolyn Stratton and Lois Barton, brother Jack Barton, eight grandchildren, Aubrey Gott, Jeremy Warn, James Hunt, Hannah Keel, Jonathan Minson, Gavinh Barnes, Sierra Walton, Cadence Walton, and five great grandchildren.

Ralph served in the United States Air Force from 1958 till 1987, successfully completing three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Ralph served honorably and by any measure was an American hero for his military service. He retired as a Master Sergeant over the avionics shop for the KC130 Strato-Tanker in Altus, OK.

Ralph served in the Lord’s kingdom having been baptized for the remission of sins at an early age and renewing his faith in the Lord in 1981. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and reflected the love of Christ through his willingness to help his fellow man. Ralph was one of those people of whom it can be said, “He would give you the very shirt off his back.”

The family would like to thank everyone for your well wishes, your prayers and your kind acts of service during this difficult time. Your kindness brings to mind the words of our Lord, “For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.” Mark 9:41
