Maxine Smith Dean was born on November 13, 1913 in Antlers, OK to Tom and Alice (Robinson) Nabors. After graduating from high school, she received her Bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Maxine met and married the love of her life, De L. Smith. From this union came a daughter, Susan. They enjoyed life together, raising their daughter and providing a loving home, until his passing on August 29, 1980. Maxine worked for the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and retired after 37 years of service. In 1987, she married Elmer Dean. Elmer loved to travel and would always take her with him on road trips. Maxine was always on the go and she would walk a mile every day at the gym. Above all, she loved her church family and participated in all church activities, even serving dinner every Wednesday night. She also enjoyed going with her church friends to her daughter Susan’s house in Texas for a visit. Susan would always take them around town to different sites, but their favorite would always be the river boats, on the river walk and eating Mexican food. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, De L. Smith; her second husband, Elmer Dean; Sister, Mabel Craven; and Brother in law, Hugh Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Susan; Sister in law, Anna Smith and Niece, Deborah Young.
