Services to celebrate Murlene's life will be held at 9:00 AM Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel, 6934 S. Western Ave., OKC, OK.


Burial will be at 2:00 PM, at Darwin Cemetery, in Antlers, OK.


Murlene Monahan entered Heaven’s gates on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the age of 88. The daughter of Letha A. Gentry, Murlene was born on March 29, 1930 in Farris, Oklahoma. She married her sweetheart and first husband, Bill Green. Bill and Murlene were blessed with two children, Larry and Kaye. After Bill’s death, Murlene met and married Bill Monahan, Jr. and to this union of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter, Pamela and a son, Bill. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother, and dedicated homemaker, Murlene also worked as an assembly line worker for many years at Western Electric. A longtime resident of Oklahoma City area, Murlene was a member of Knob Hill Baptist Church for many years before later joining Southern Hills Baptist Church where she also enjoyed worshipping, fellowshipping and serving the Lord and others. For many years, Murlene volunteered her time and talents at Southern Oakes Nursing Home and served as the President of Volunteers for 17 years. With her son Bill living out of state, in 2004 Murlene decided to move from Oklahoma City to Florida, and a few years later, on to Louisiana with them. She loved being close to her family. Murlene had a compassionate heart and generous spirit. She will be deeply missed.

Mother, Letha Cossey;
First husband and sweetheart, Bill Green;
Daughter, Kaye (Green) Sharpe;
Son, Larry Green;
Second husband, William John Monahan;
Daughter, Pamela Sue Monahan.

She is survived by her:
Son, William “Bill” J. Monahan, III;
Grandson, Robert Sharpe;
Granddaughter, Shannon Sharpe;
Granddaughter, Lauren Lancieri;
Granddaughter, Elka Monahan;
Grandson, Seve Monahan;
Granddaughter, Teresa Monahan;
Grandson, Gabriel Monahan;
Seven Great Grandchildren.
