Obituary for Helen Ann Romine

Helen Ann Romine, 91, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, passed away surrounded by her family on August 28, 2018.
Helen was born on October 11, 1926 to John and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Gales in Okarche, Oklahoma. Helen was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and will be greatly missed.
Helen graduated from St. Mary’s nursing school in 1946 and worked as a nurse before the birth of her children. She volunteered as the school nurse and for many other activities, including over 30 years of service at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was also very active at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, particularly in Altar Society and Study Club.
She will always be known for her sense of humor and love of family. Helen loved crossword puzzles and playing cards and other games. They took many memorable family vacations, and after retirement, Bob and Helen spent years traveling across the country and to Europe.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bob; her children, Gary and Liz Romine, of Wentzville, MO, Janis and Ted Jones of OKC, Elisa Norred of Tulsa, and Deann Romine of OKC; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; as well as three sisters.
A funeral service to remember Helen will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel, and burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma.
