Obituary for Harrell J Cathey

Harrell J. Cathey entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the age of 81. He was born January 18, 1937 and adopted in February 1937 by Lee and Inez Cathey. While growing up, Harrell attended schools in Putnam City, Ardmore, Shawnee and Oklahoma City and graduated from Central High School in 1955. For two and a half years, Harrell attended The University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and the ROTC Pershing Rifle Drill Team. Harrell worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department for one and a half years before going to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where he worked in the business office, marketing department and network of central office operations, before retiring after 31 years of service. Harrell won the Oklahoma City Sales and Marketing Executive Award and was honored as one of the Top 100 Account Executives for Southwestern Bell. Harrell worked for 17 years at the Department of Agriculture (NASDA) and was honored with several awards recognizing his dedication and accomplishments. Harrell married in Ponca City and had a son, David Cathey. In 1975, Harrell married Judy Hix Addison, who had two daughters, Lynne and Lisa Addison. Harrell was baptized at First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and attended churches in Ardmore, Shawnee and Ponca City, before later attending Bethel Baptist Church and Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. In 2005, Harrell found out his birth mother was his favorite aunt and his birth name was John Wesley Williams. He will be deeply missed.

Seven Grandchildren: Michael LaMar, Brittany Cathey, Jennifer Cathey, Kaylan Webb, Sean Webb, Kennedy Curry and her husband, Braden, and Mitchell Cox;
Many other family and friends.
