A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 603 Classen Blvd., Norman, OK 73071.

Philip Andrew Birkes, 71, went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2018. Born on June 16, 1947 in Tulsa, and baptized on June 30, 1947. He was confirmed in 1961 at Grace Lutheran Church and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1965. In 1967, he graduated from Northeastern A&M and enlisted in the Navy in 1968. As a Navy Seabee, he served a nine month tour of Vietnam in 1969 and completed his Naval service in 1972. On May 21, 1971, he married Cynthia Pendergraph. They were happily married for 47 years.Philip worked as an architectural draftsman at Star Building Systems in Oklahoma City for 42 years and retired in 2015.He is preceded in death by his parents, Oris and Emma Birkes; in-laws, Leon and Eleanor Pendergraph and daughter, Rebekah Birkes.Philip is survived by his wife Cynthia Birkes; his daughter Rachel Meinke and husband David; grandsons Derek and Aaron; sister Karen Schroeder and husband Melvin; nieces Linda Stencel, Suzanne Schroeder, Nancy Griffin, nephew Tim Schroeder and brother-in-law, Anthony Pendergraph.
