In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations to Southern Hills United Methodist Church or Tinder Care Hospice.

Virginia Lillian (Milligan) Stover was born on November 18, 1924 in Easton, Maryland to Isaac N. and Ernestine M. (Thomas) Milligan. Virginia had three siblings, Eileen, Dorthea & Franklin. Virginia was lovingly referred to as “Ginnie” while growing up. She was raised on a farm in Rhodesdale, Maryland where she and her siblings attended school. Ginnie graduated from Hurlock High School in 1941 and continued her education at Business School in Deleware. It was during her time in Delaware that she met the love of her life, Sgt. Don A. Stover from Wanette, Oklahoma. Their meeting was quite fateful as they were both attending a social gathering in Dover the night before he was to be deployed. Although they met only once the two were destined to be together again. Upon his return, Don knocked on every boarding house door in Dover searching for that beautiful young lady he had met weeks before. He found her and their romance continued for a short year. Don proposed to her, but she was hesitant to accept until she met his family in Oklahoma. Don and Ginnie traveled to Oklahoma by train making a short stop in an unknown town to purchase a wedding ring. On August 6, 1944 Virginia and Don were wed in Wanette, OK at the Methodist church. Virginia and Don were living on a farm in Wanette after they married. On August 2, 1945, while on a trip to Shawnee their first son, Don, Jr. was born. In 1945 the family bought a new car and moved to California. Don worked in a Ship Yard in Vallejo, California. On September 26, 1946 their second child, Sandrea Lynn, was born. Not long after that time, the family moved back to Oklahoma where they welcomed the birth of their third child, Candice Eileen on March 29, 1948. While in Oklahoma the Korean War was ramping up. Don was recalled to the Air Force and their family moved once again. While living in Savannah, Georgia they were blessed with their fourth child, Pamela Jane on November 8, 1951. Don and Virginia’s family enjoyed the southern lifestyle, but Oklahoma was calling them home. Once back in Oklahoma, Ginnie got her driver’s license and began her working career. She worked at Kerr’s Department Store and with her being at work, her daughters perfected their housekeeping and cooking skills. Ginnie enjoyed working at Kerr’s but desired the opportunity to use her business school skills. She took a job as a secretary in downtown Oklahoma City and later at Leland Equipment Company. She retired in the early 80’s but made many great friendships and fond memories during her time in the business world. Virginia eventually became a grandmother and loved every minute of it. She was a very family oriented woman and spending time with her grandchildren was at the top of her list. Don & Virginia enjoyed many family get-togethers and vacations with their big family over the years. The memories they all made and special bonds that were formed will last for eternity. Although she is not here on this earth any longer her legacy will live on through the lives of her family and friends.
