Condolence From: jay campano
Condolence: I was terribly saddened at the news of Cecil's passing.I had the privilege of working with him at the Homeland security school at Fort McClellan in Alabama. My being an older and ??wiser?? Fire Chief from New York did not stop me from recognizing Cecil as an extremely talented and knowledgeable instructor. He was extremely popular with our students and consistently received high ratings from them. He was very calm and unflappable ,even when some of the students became difficult. We taught thousand of Fire,Police,Haz-Mat and Medical students enabling them to better protect themselves and the people in their cities through out the United States . Cecil was a great guy,a great instructor and a good friend to all of us who worked with him.I started missing him the time he left Homeland Security and will frequently remember him and his kind ways.
My prayers to you and your family
God Bless you Cecil Jay Campano

Condolence: This may be hard to hear but I feel it will be of some comfort to know this. My wife, son and I were at the accident cite assisting with the extraction of Cecil (I would call him Mr Meeks but we did not see him as some stranger but a man, brother, friend in trouble). 8 or so of us carried him from the truck to a sidewalk around the side of the hardware store. When we laid him down the ground was cold and wet so I held his head in my hands until my wife came with some thick towels. When the ambulance got there we loaded him on a board then onto the gurney and into the ambulance. My wife stayed at the head of the gurney while he was attended to. My wife is a nurse and a very kind and gentle person. I tell you this so you know your husband, father, brother was not alone out there. He was with loving people who really cared and prayed for him the whole time. My younger brother was struck and killed on a street by a driver 5 years ago (he was 49). He had a serious head injury and was brain dead by the time he got to the hospital. He was hit in an elementary school zone just before school was out. I was always so grateful that there were mothers around him to care for him as he lay in the street dying. At the trial there was a picture of a roll of paper towels that someone had put under his head to stop the bleeding and to keep his head off the hard pavement. That kind act meant so much to me. I hope that our act of kindness and love let you know that Cecile was not alone out there. He was always with people who truly cared. God bless you in your time of sorrow. You will never stop missing your husband, brother, dad but somehow you must know he is with God now in heaven and is at peace. Try to think of the first day you will be together again in God's loving arms. That will be a great day.
