Obituary for Charles "Chas" F. Stover

Charles Fayne Stover, fondly known as “Chas” by his family and friends, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2019 at the age of 88. Chas was born on September 30, 1930 in Wanette, Oklahoma to his parents, Joe Alston and Lucy Carleen (Evans) Stover. After graduating from Wanette High School, Chas joined the United States Air Force on October 20, 1949 and honorably served his country. Among his duties included working in Air Force communications as a radio operator and earned the Korean Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After his honorable discharge on October 8, 1953, Chas enlisted in the Oklahoma Air National Guard where he also worked in communications. Chas retired in 1990 after 37 total years of dedicated service to his country. He earned the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He married his beloved, Peggy Metcalf Stover and together shared more than 44 wonderful years together before her passing. Chas was a wonderful, hardworking and honorable man who will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his:
parents, Joe Alston and Lucy Carleen Stover;
wife of 44 years, Peggy Metcalf Stover;
four brothers: Ewell, Robert Hollis, Don Alston and Carl Wayne Stover;
one sister, Betty Jo Cottrell.

He is survived by his:
