Obituary for Michael Scott Whittern

Michael Scott Whittern, 49, passed away on June 22, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born on August 9, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jim and Janette (Robertson) Whittern. He met the love of his life, Lori on July 4, 1994 and they were married on June 10, 1995. They just celebrated their 24th anniversary. Since Lori is a year older than Michael, he would tell everyone that when they married, she stole his youth and started giving him gray hair. Together they had two boys, Cole Grayson Whittern and Colin Baker Whittern. Michael always said that his biggest job in life was to raise them to be great men. He was so proud of them and their many accomplishments. He would talk about the boys to anyone that would listen. Michael was all about family and talked to his parents and cousins on a daily basis. (Mostly because he hated to send text messages.). He was also a great friend to many, some that he had known his entire life and some that came into his life through the boys’ activities or work. If he considered you a friend, he would be there for the best of times and the worst of times and everything in-between.Michael worked for the US Post Office for over 15 years, but had been medically retired for the past 6 years. He enjoyed hobbies such as golf, watching Thunder basketball, OU football and any sport that the boys were playing. He also just loved spending time with Lori and the boys. Michael will be deeply missed by his family and everyone that knew him.
