Obituary for Joe Kenneth Bruce

Joe Kenneth Bruce passed away on July 16, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Joe was born November 14, 1934, in Guion, Arkansas, to Chester and Virginia (Tate) Bruce. He was the youngest of four siblings. The family moved to Drumright, Oklahoma, where he attended public school. Joe served four years in the United States Marine Corps. After the military, he married Jerry Dockery in 1958 and they had two daughters, Robin and Amy.

After attending Central State College, Joe worked in the insurance industry for Allstate Insurance and Employer’s Casualty in Oklahoma City and lived in the Deer Creek area. After his daughters graduated from high school and started college, Joe bought an independent insurance/tag agency in Oilton, Oklahoma, and he and Jerry moved back to Drumright, Oklahoma. When he retired, he and Jerry moved back to the Edmond/Deer Creek area so that he could play golf with his friends.

Joe is predeceased by his mother and his father, his brother-in-law, Harry L. Oberbeck, his nephews, Bruce and Tommy Lee Oberbeck, and his brother, Tommy C. Bruce. He is survived by his wife Jerry of the home; brother, Charles R. Bruce and wife, Helen; sister Robbie Nell Oberbeck; sister-in-law, Loretta Bruce, and several nieces and nephews, all of Drumright, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his daughter, Robin Leigh Stinchcomb and husband Mark, of Colorado; daughter, Amy Bruce Andersen and husband Marty, of Wisconsin and Edmond; granddaughter, Calli McNickle and husband, Sam of Colorado; grandson, Dallas Tate Andersen and wife, Chau, of Wisconsin, and Reagan L. Andersen of Edmond.

A memorial service to remember Joe will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 29, 2019 at Church of the Servant, Chapel of the Cross, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd. OKC, OK 73142.
