Obituary for Harold W. Brown

Rev. Harold Wayne Brown passed away in his home on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Harold was born to Clyde and Jessie (Johnson) Brown in Texas City, Texas on September 28, 1943. He grew up in the Marlow and Duncan area with his siblings, Loyd Brown and Janice, Elvin, Maudean, Barney, Bonnie and Fred Hines. His mother married Troy Hines after Clyde was killed in World War II in Okinawa.
Harold and Cindy (Elling) were married on December 26, 1966 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church near Lawton, OK. They have two children, Frank and Robbie. Frank and his wife, Jeanie Biddler Brown, and daughter, Violet, live in Charlotte, NC. Robbie and her husband, David Stewart, and sons, Alex, Max and Rex live in Oklahoma City.
Harold graduated from Marlow High School in 1962, attended Cameron College and received a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University in 1966. He later earned a B.S. in Education from Cameron University in 1975 and taught school at Empire Public Schools near Duncan.
He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Phillips University in 1985, was a clergy member of the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church and served churches in Gracemont, Cogar, Ardmore, Chickasha, Harrah and Oklahoma City Asbury before retiring in 2009.
