Clinton L. “Clint” Merrick
June 22, 1929 ~ February 17, 2020

Clint went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday February 17, 2020 at the age of 90. He was born on June 22, 1929 in McCloud, Oklahoma to his parents, Cecil & Sula Merrick. Clint graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1949. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, and honorably served his country. Upon his return, he began training as a firefighter, and continued a proud career with the Oklahoma City Fire Department until his retirement in 1979. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Fay (Jaco) and together they began a loving journey that lasted 66 years. Clint also worked for many years in welding, and held himself to high standards when completing his work. Clint was part of the design and fabrication of the Oklahoma City National Memorial chairs which represent lives lost during the bombing. Clint and Bonnie traveled extensively and have seen most of the country side. Clint enjoyed spending most of his time with his family and friends at Lake Texoma (as honorary mayor of Buncombe Creek); fishing, watching sunsets every evening from his golf cart, sitting on his porch and playing cards with whoever was willing to lose money that day. Lake Texoma was where he loved to be, he was able to share his love of the lake with his daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren & great grandchildren. He taught all of his grandchildren how to play Texas holdem’ and laughed as he was the one that usually won during the big games we held at the lake. He was a great man, loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him and were blessed with his wisdom and humor.
