Miss Lovett taught 3rd grade her first year at Velma, which was my 3rd grade year. The next year she moved to Kindergarten. We loved her and I was just randomly thinking of some of the fun things we did in her class only days before she passed, and had no idea of her illness. I had not thought of her in a long while. She made a tremendous difference in my education and my success in life, and I think many of my classmates probably feel that way about her. She also taught my younger brother in Kindergarten. She was a great teacher, and one of a kind. I am so sorry for your loss. She gave so much to so many children, and will never be forgotten.

My name is Pat Oxford Martin. I am the elementary secretary at Velma-Alma Public School. I have been employed at V-A since 1977. In my early years I was Miss Lovett's classroom aide for a period of time. She taught several of my family members. I loved working with her. She was such an interesting person and her dry sense of humor always kept me laughing. I still find myself using some of her funny phrases in conversation. She is missed by so many here at Velma. My deepest condolences for all who loved her.
