“A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. Our hearts are broken in this moment, but we know, God only takes the best:

Maria “Marie” H. Foste, age 95, of Oklahoma City, OK, a beautiful and caring soul, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 30, 2020. Marie was born on March 12, 1925 in St. Alban, Germany to Simon and Franzisca Daser Hobmaier. She was the youngest of five children. She married her forever husband, Ralph E. Foste, on October 13, 1956. Together, they had four children and were happily married for 47 years.

Marie grew up in Bavaria, Germany and worked in a hospital and as a nanny during WWII. She met and married her husband Ralph in Aschaffenburg, Germany while he served his country in the US Army. They travelled and enjoyed living in Germany and various states in the US. Upon Ralph’s retirement from the US Army, they made their home in Oklahoma City, OK. Marie was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother, and entrepreneurial businesswoman. She was an amazing cook and loved to make delicious German dishes for her family. It was important for her to share and pass down her German heritage. Marie started her own business as a successful florist in Oklahoma City and shared her love of crafts and flowers with her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Franzisca Daser Hobmaier; one sister, Berta Hobmaier; three brothers, Simon, Thomas, and Joseph “Sepp” Hobmaier; husband, Ralph E. Foste; daughter, Kathryn Foste; and grandson, Rustin Bender.

She is survived by her three children, Ralph Foste and wife Sandy of Norman, OK; Marilynn James and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, OK; and Annette Bender and husband Scott of Chandler, OK; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and host of other friends and family.
