Obituary for Carol Jean Kaylor (Henry)

Carol Jean Kaylor – beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend – spent her final days on this earth surrounded by family before peacefully slipping away on April 5, 2020. Carol’s mortal body may be laid to rest, but her legacy and faith in Christ will always be with us.
Mom was born October 20, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Anyone who knew Mom, knew she was a Daddy’s girl. Throughout her childhood, she would wait for him to come home each night from the family restaurant, Eddie Henry’s Cafe, in order to hear him say her beloved nickname, “CJ”. Mom taught us to never give up and that we should be strengthened by challenges without hardening our hearts. No one was more strong-willed, tenacious and full of mercy than Carol. Despite facing adversity, including having children at a young age and working multiple jobs, Mom managed to raise a large, cohesive family that could rival most. Her relentless work ethic included owning a Sonic Drive-In and a beauty salon, before retiring from a lengthy career at Integris Baptist Medical Center. Finally, she enjoyed post-retirement at Air Comfort Solutions where she was affectionately known as “Grandma.” Some of her most precious times were traveling with family to Cancun, Mexico and Scottsdale, Arizona.
Carol may have been courageous, gentle, and optimistic, but heaven help you if you mistook any of those traits as weaknesses. There was no talking her out of something she had her heart- set on doing or talking her into something she was dead-set against. Perhaps Mom’s most important trait was her unconditional love for all of us; her children and grandchildren were her absolute pride; her love was so intense and unique that we will forever be debating who her actual “favorite” was!
Carol is having a joyful reunion with her parents, Edwin and Golela Henry; spouses, Ronald Winston Gregory and George Allen Kaylor.
Carol is survived by her sons: Edward (Kim) Gregory, Ronald (Judy) Gregory and Keith (Marisol) Sell of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters: Toni (Ty) Dietz of Scottsdale, AZ, April (Steve) Love and Robin (Keith) Ritchie, of Yukon, OK.; her sister, Judy A. Byrd of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren: Spencer Hoffman, Kayla Gregory, Cameron Crane, Jenny Scott, Kaylee Dietz, Kyler Dietz, Kara Casiano, Lance Gregory, Lindsey Gregory, Kiersten Love, Logan Gregory, Cody Love, Ethan Sell and Camilla Sell; 6 great-grandchildren; her princess-puppy Chloe; and many other family members and friends too numerous to list.
