Obituary for Dustin Harold Morris

Dustin Harold Morris passed into Heaven and into the arms of Jesus on July 18, 2020, in Oklahoma City at the age of 38 years old. He was born June 12, 1982 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City to Danny and Phyliss (Overstreet) Morris. The oldest of three children, Dustin attended Harvest Hills Elementary, Kenneth Cooper Middle School, and was a proud graduate of Putnam City North High School, Class of 2001. Growing up, Dustin competed in multiple sports including little league football, baseball, and basketball. He was also active in Boy Scouts. He was involved in his Youth Group and Teen Choir at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. A diehard Oklahoma State Cowboys fan, he rarely missed a game, always supporting his team whether in the stands, watching on TV or listening to the radio commentary. Once he turned 16, Dustin found a new passion: fast cars. He was so proud of his bright orange 1973 Datsun 240Z. Everyone in the P.C. North parking lot got to hear Dustin arrive and leave school every day! After high school, he attended his beloved Oklahoma State University, and became a devoted member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Commonly referred to as D-Mo, Dustin loved his college days, and enjoyed reminiscing on funny stories from the Kappa Sig house. Post college, Dustin worked as a valued Compliance Specialist for an oil and gas service company. A true people person, Dustin’s talents most shined throughout his career within the hospitality industry. His combined passion for the culinary arts and service to others made him an enthusiastic team member. The deeply held core values of respect and equity were reflected not only in his work ethic, but also in his personal daily worldview. Dustin regularly engaged in courageous conversations always standing up for his beliefs. He enjoyed going to the lake, snow skiing, golf, reading, live music, studying gemology, travel and was a lover of animals. However, his greatest love were his friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter, Daphne Leanne Post; his mother, Phyliss Morris of Oklahoma City; his father, Danny Morris and wife Marva of Edmond; his grandmother, Ruth Morris of Purcell; his sister, McKenzie Neveras and husband Ben of San Jose, CA; his sister, Kendall Cowden and husband Zach of Oklahoma City; and nephews, Jaden Neveras and Murray Cowden. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harold Morris and his maternal grandparents, Ira and Orlinda Overstreet.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 27 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel.
