Carlton Francis Blattler, 89, passed from this life Friday July 31, 2020. He was born July 24, 1931 to William Joseph and Amilia Laura (Speiler) Blattler. Carl was born on a small farm in Speilerville, Arkansas just northwest of Subiaco Monastery, where he would later finish high school. By the time he was ready to start school, the family had moved to Paris, Arkansas. The Parish of St. Joseph had a grade school of first through eighth grade. He spent the next 8 years going to school and serving mass as an altar boy. These early school years, the students went to mass every day. After graduating from St. Joseph’s, Carl attended Subiaco graduating in 1949. From there he began various jobs, working for Gulf Oil, also Kroger Foods in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1951 he moved to Oklahoma City, worked for Oklahoma City Auto Parts. He soon was drafted into the US Army and married Oralea Grissom in 1952. This union brought 3 Sons, Thomas Harold, William Carl, and Matthew Paul. Carl was discharged from the Army at Fr. Monroe, Virginia on June 9, 1954. Carl returned to his job in Oklahoma City and worked there until 1962 when he and partners opened a business, Industrial Engine Parts and Machine. He continued in the business and retired in 1994, leaving his oldest son, Tom to run the business. Carl’s hobbies included woodcarving, traveling with the Churchman’s, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved son, William “Bill”; and a sister, Joanne Charlene Miller. He leaves cherished memories with his wife, Oralea; 2 sons, Tom and wife Marilyn, and Matt and wife Barbara; 3 wonderful grandchildren, Jason, Tisha, and Andrew; and 4 great grandchildren, Caden, Michael, Max, and Mason. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 5 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church.
