Hazel Pearl Bishop, 86 passed away peacefully on August 10, 2020 at Northhaven Place, Oklahoma City. She was born December 2, 1933, Liberal, KS, the daughter of Irvin and Velma Grabeel. She married Charles (Ish) Vern Bishop on October 16, 1954. A few years after she and Ish were married they moved with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline to Alva, OK where they raised their family. After Ish retired from Panhandle Eastern they moved to Elk City for a couple of years, then on to Oklahoma City. Hazel worked many years in Alva as a bookkeeper and school secretary. Many of the students and teachers Hazel worked with as a school secretary continue to share the respect and love they had for Mrs. Bishop. Hazel also enjoyed working for Mahaffey & Gore Law Firm in OKC as a secretary. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She was a member of The Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City and was active in the ladies Sunday school class as well as enjoying fellowship with the ladies’ weekly bible study. Besides her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, 3 sisters and their husbands and son-in-law, Byron Koehn. Hazel is survived by 5 children, Chuck Bishop, OKC, Karen Koehn, Alva, Kathy Lohmann, OKC, Bill Bishop, Broken Arrow and Tim Bishop & wife Diana Bishop, Noble. Four grandsons, Tom Bishop & Jennifer Bishop, OKC, MM2 (SS) Jim Bishop, Groton, CT, Seth and Tyler Bishop, Noble.
Donations may be made in memory of Hazel Bishop to the music departments at First United Methodist Church in Alva and Church of the Servant in OKC.

Hazel was such a gentle, kind person. I know that you will all miss her horribly. I'm hoping you can find comfort in your family, memories, and faith. I added a picture of Hazel with my mom, Leona Russell

So very sorry to hear about your mother. My mother really enjoyed your mother when they both volunteered at Mercy Hospital.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! XO
